Our Team

Ashley R. Avery, MSCE, PE, RRC

President

Ashley ensures the firm’s seamless operation while prioritizing his client’s needs through communication and providing expert engineering design, consulting, and forensic services. With over 27 years of experience, Ashley has an extensive background working in various areas of the industry. Before founding the firm, Ashley held several project engineering roles as a forensic and design engineer. Ashley provides clients with timely communication, quality deliverables, and effective execution. Ashley is a licensed engineer in multiple states and an IIBEC Registered Roof Consultant.

Ashley and his wife have a teenage son and enjoy an active lifestyle. Ashley is an avid hunter and enjoys fishing on his days off. Ashley is a fifth-generation cattle rancher at his family-owned farm.

Lawson Honeycutt, MCE, PE

Project Engineer

Lawson has experience in structural engineering and design in various fields, including the industrial, residential, commercial, and municipal sectors. Lawson’s responsibilities include providing structural analysis, design, and drawing production services for various structures. Lawson enjoys a challenge and is always eager to explore creative solutions to even the most complex structural problems while always being mindful of a client’s needs.
Lawson grew up in the Charlotte area and enjoys spending his free time fishing, hunting, playing golf, and spending time with friends and family.

Nancy Knox

Business Manager

With a background in engineering, Nancy seamlessly integrates into Avery Engineering by supporting the team with day-to-day operations, including project setup, maintaining the project management accounting system, accounts receivable, financial reconciliations and reports, and quality control reviews. Nancy provides clients with prompt and accurate information. She’s a team player with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
Nancy and her husband are both native Charlotteans and have two children. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, arts and crafts, taking beach trips, and watching football.
